Vira I. Heinz Endowment Approves Grant to the Institute For Socio-Financial Studies

Middleburg, Virginia

The Board of Directors of the Vira I. Heinz Endowment has approved a grant to the Institute for Socio-Financial Studies (ISFS) to conduct an evaluation study of the financial literacy education programs of grantees of the Children’s, Youth & Family Program of the Endowments.

The Institute specializes in research on financial education programs. ISFS previously conducted a study of financial literacy education programs nationwide for the Fannie Mae Foundation. The resulting publication, "Personal Finance and the Rush to Competence: Financial Literacy Education in the U.S." has been widely distributed and cited in policy, philanthropic and financial education publications and settings.

The Heinz Endowments support efforts to make southwestern Pennsylvania a premier place to live and work, a center of learning and educational excellence, and a home to diversity and inclusion. Committed to helping its region thrive as a whole community - economically, ecologically, educationally and culturally - the foundation works within Pennsylvania and elsewhere in the nation to develop solutions to challenges that are national and even international in scope. One of the largest and most innovative independent philanthropic foundations in the country, the Endowments awarded over $54 million in grants in 2003.
